Partner With Datahub Consulting to Drive Data-Driven Decisions Faster

Unlock the full potential of your data with our Microsoft Fabric Accelerator. Designed for organisations ready to move beyond traditional data warehouses, this accelerator helps you migrate to Microsoft Fabric, leveraging Lakehouse architecture and the Medallion design pattern for a modern, scalable, and unified analytics experience.

As a trusted Microsoft Partner, Datahub Consulting delivers global projects with proven methodologies and rapid timelines. Our accelerator ensures a seamless transition to Fabric, enabling you to harness advanced analytics, AI, and real-time insights.

Organisations that want to be data-driven need one trusted version of the numbers, governance that matches their IT and data protection policies, and data current enough to act on. That's hard to achieve when reporting runs from an ageing warehouse, with overnight reloads and business logic scattered across stored procedures and reports. Microsoft Fabric brings data engineering, storage and Power BI reporting into one governed platform, and our accelerator gets you there in six weeks, not months.

Why Microsoft Fabric?

Microsoft Fabric is the next-generation data platform that unifies data engineering, data science, and business intelligence under one roof. Key benefits include:

  • Unified Analytics: Integrate data from multiple sources into a single, governed environment.
  • Lakehouse Architecture: Combine the flexibility of data lakes with the performance of data warehouses.
  • Medallion Architecture: Organise data into Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers for optimised processing and analytics.
  • Built-in Security & Governance: Ensure compliance and data protection across your organization.
  • Seamless Integration: Works natively with Power BI, Azure, and Microsoft 365.

Migrating now means future-proofing your data strategy and unlocking cost efficiencies.

Microsoft Fabric Migration

Have an existing data warehouse that is getting tired and not performing well. The accelerator takes your reporting data from where it lives today to a governed Microsoft Fabric platform, typically in four to six weeks. Every engagement includes:

  • Fabric workspaces and capacity
set up and sized to your data volumes, refresh frequency and team size.
  • Connections to your source systems
on-premises SQL Server through a data gateway, plus cloud databases, APIs, flat files and SaaS platforms.
  • Migration of your existing data warehouse
tables, history and the business logic held in views and stored procedures, rebuilt in Fabric.
  • No disruption to live reporting
your current reports keep running while the new platform is tested and reconciled against them. [confirm this is your standard approach]
  • Power BI-ready data
your reports connect to trusted, modeled data, whether we build them or your team does. [confirm scope]
  • Handover and knowledge transfer
your team is shown how to run and extend the platform, including adding new tables through configuration rather than code.

What you get with Datahub's Microsoft Fabric Accelerator

Discovery Workshop

The discovery workshop will enable Datahub to fully understand your data sources, requirements, and any business calculations that we would need to factor into the solution. The architect will then create a plan for the project delivery.

Medallion Architecture

The solution is built on a medallion architecture, with bronze, silver and gold layers.

Metadata-driven approach for scalability.

A central control database defines every source: table, load type, watermark column, primary keys. One pipeline pattern serves every table. Full loads and incremental loads are a setting, not a separate build.

A governed silver layer.

Configuration-driven PySpark notebooks handle the cleansing, data types, deduplication and conformance. Column-level rules live in metadata, so business changes don’t become code changes.

Gold layer built on Kimball methodology

Properly modelled facts and dimensions, surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions where you need them. Optimised for the performance of semantic models and Power BI reports.

Security and compliance built in, not bolted on.

Workspace and item-level access design, sensitivity labelling, and alignment with data protection regulation are factored into the solution.

Documentation

Architecture, data lineage, configuration reference, test plans and run books. Written as a deliverable, not a last thought.

Audit logs

Every run of the bronze, silver and gold pipelines is recorded in a log, including rows read, rows written, duration and status. Run performance can be monitored in a Power BI report.

Notifications

Get notified quickly in the event of a failure. Notifications can be sent by email or Microsoft Teams to a group or an individual.

How a typical six-week accelerated delivery works

From discovery workshop to a live, handed-over platform in five stages

Every stage has clear milestones and sign-off, so you always know what’s happening and what you’ll receive. The timings below are typical and are confirmed in your solution design.

  • Discovery Workshop (week 1)
We work through your data sources, reporting requirements, business calculations and governance needs with the people who know them best.
You receive: an agreed scope and requirements.
  • Solution Design (weeks 1)
Our architect turns the workshop outputs into a written design covering the target architecture, security model and delivery plan.
You receive: the solution design and a firm timeline, before any build starts.
  • Build (weeks 2–4)
We configure the framework around your sources, including ingestion, the bronze, silver and gold layers, audit logging and failure alerts. You’ll see data flowing within the first few weeks.
You receive: [weekly] progress updates and early access to your data.
  • Testing and Optimisation (week 5)
We validate your data and reconcile it against your current reports, then tune load performance to keep Fabric capacity costs down.
You receive: test results and sign-off against the agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Documentation, Knowledge Transfer and Handover (week 6)
We finalise the architecture, lineage, configuration reference and run books, and show your team how to run and extend the platform.
You receive: a live platform in your own tenant, full documentation, and ownership of all code and configuration.

Benefits of Our Approach

Five things change when you start from a proven framework instead of a blank workspace

  • Speed
Go live in six weeks, not months.

The design decisions that normally consume the first phase of a Fabric project are already made and already tested. Ingestion patterns, load logic, audit structure and modelling standards arrive with us. Your team’s time goes on the things only your team can decide: business rules, definitions and the questions the platform needs to answer. You see data flowing in the first weeks, not at the end of the quarter.
  • Cost Efficiency
Reduced delivery time means reduced delivery costs
A hand-built platform spends budget twice: once building the plumbing, then again fixing it when the first new source arrives. A metadata-driven design removes that second cost, because extending the platform is a configuration change. Efficient incremental loading also keeps your Fabric capacity consumption down — on a recent optimisation we cut total load time by 42%, with the capacity saving that comes with it.
  • Future-Ready
Position your organisation for AI-driven insights.
AI initiatives stall on data, not on models. Clean, conformed, properly modeled gold-layer data with documented lineage is the prerequisite for anything useful, whether that’s Copilot over your semantic model, an agent answering operational questions, or your own machine learning work. Build the platform properly and those become projects you can start rather than problems you have to solve first.
  • Compliance
Built-in governance for global data protection standards.
Security model, sensitivity classification, retention position and data flow documentation are part of the build, not a later remediation exercise. This comes from the same firm that conducts full data protection audits for international clients, so the governance in your platform is designed by people who spend their working week assessing environments like yours against global data protection standards.
  • Ownership
Don’t get locked into ongoing costs with a third party.
Everything is built in your own Fabric tenant: pipelines, notebooks, control metadata and documentation. There’s no licence fee and no subscription to Datahub. Your team adds new tables through configuration, so you call us because you want to, not because you have to.

Frequently Asked Questions

The accelerator is a delivery framework built in-house by the Datahub team. Having developed and deployed MS Fabric solutions all over the world, we have built the framework to allow us to deliver faster solutions seamlessly integrated into your business. The solution is 100% custom built and designed around your organisation and not a set of generic templates.

We take into consideration

  • Your requirements
  • Reporting needs
  • Latency (how often the data is refreshed)
  • Custom business logic
  • Training of internal team
  • Monitoring

We deploy a tested set of pipeline patterns, control metadata, notebooks and dimensional modelling standards directly into your Microsoft Fabric tenant, then configure them around your sources. At the end of the engagement the code and configuration are yours. There’s no licence fee and nothing to renew.

We don’t turn up with a set of standard templates, deploy them and leave.

We understand that no two businesses are the same and for that reason we build a solution that is 100% custom-built for your organisation. The discovery workshop allows us to fully understand your business, data, and requirements. Then the solution is built around those deliverables.

A consultant starting from a blank workspace spends the first several weeks making design decisions and building patterns. We’ve already made those decisions across multiple delivered platforms, and they’re tested. That means your budget goes on your business logic and your data model rather than on reinventing ingestion. You also get two capabilities from one data partner: Microsoft data engineering and hands-on data protection expertise.

It depends on the number of source systems and data complexity, but a typical first delivery of bronze and silver layers plus an initial gold model and reporting typically takes four to six weeks.

Our most recent implementation was delivered in six weeks. The discovery workshop will provide more information on the duration.

You’ll have a written solution design within about a week of the discovery workshop, and an indicative timeline in that document before any build starts. We’d rather give you a firm number after discovery than a flattering one before it.

Yes, and this is common. We routinely load from on-premises SQL Server instances into Fabric lakehouses via an on-premises data gateway, using incremental loading driven by watermarks so you’re not pushing full table copies across the network on each load. Other sources, such as cloud databases, APIs, flat files and SaaS platforms, are handled by the same metadata pattern.

No. The accelerator is a delivery method not a service and the customer has full ownership once completed and handed over. The only subscription you pay is to Microsoft for the Fabric capacity subscription. Datahub can advise on the most cost effective Fabric capacity for your business based on your data volumes, frequency of processing, and team size.

We can work with both cost models. We understand that budgets are important and that some organisations prefer to understand the full costs upfront.

Fixed Cost Model

We run the discovery workshop at a fixed price, with a documented solution design as the deliverable. Then we are in a position to provide a fixed cost for the full implementation based on the agreed requirements. The choice is then yours with no commitment to continue.

Daily Rate Model

For a daily rate model we can conduct the discovery and implementation as one overall project, starting with the discovery and then continuing through the build, testing, deployment, and handover.
